1980 Gibson Les Paul Standard – Heritage Cherry Burst – Miss Numbers

Get a load of this one, stamp looks like it says 1990, but in fact this is a completely stock example from 1980, a decade earlier, and the body stamp and details match perfectly. The thick neck binding in the cutaway is perhaps the first clue, but the big honking volute reinforces the picture, as do the low frets and beautiful rosewood fretboard. The hardware and plastics are all original, aging gracefully, matched perfectly with a set of uncovered Tim Shaw pickups from the factory. Fresh pro setup by the guys at Eric’s Guitars in Van Nuys, California. Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish, 2 piece top, light wear attests to 4+ decades of American music history. Comes in a Gibson 90s style hard case with satin shroud, looks good in it. Weighs 8lb and 13oz, setup on 10s.

Condition is 8/10 for minor play wear, patina, aging. All parts original.

This instrument is in beautiful condition, shows play wear, is not new or pristine. Presents as very good, exactly what it is, a 40+ year old instrument. Various small dings and signs of use and wear. There’s a small amount of checking on the sides, some worming and light buckle rash, light dings and scratches on the sides and back, hazing, wear around the controls, one or two dings on the top, small amount of chipping on the back of the neck. A real-life relic, aging beautifully. This guitar has never been modified, as far as I can tell, apart from losing it’s pickup covers to make it look like a later Classic model.
